Pet Bereavement Support Service (The Blue Cross):

Call the support line on 0800 096 6606 (UK only including Northern Ireland). The support line is open from 8.30am - 8.30pm every day. All calls are free from both landlines and mobiles. Confidential support is provided by trained volunteers. The service does not offer a counselling service but is able to offer emotional support and information for pet owners who may be experiencing the loss of a pet. If you prefer you can contact them by email instead on pbssmail@bluecross.org.uk; emails will be replied to within 48 hours so use the phone service for a quicker response.

Note that volunteers do not share their experience of pet loss with callers. This is a listening service, although they sometimes draw on personal experience of pet loss to help support callers.

Mary is currently (December 2017) studying for the final module of a Certificate in Pet Bereavement counselling with the

Please feel free to contact Mary via email at mgpetlosshelp@gmail.com.

Mary's background in her own words:

"In case it's of any use here's a bit of background about me.  I'm 56, have an honours degree in Biological Sciences, work in communications and am also a Reiki master.  I see our relationships with our pets as being some of the purest we are ever likely to know and my ambition is to set up a holistic practice offering various forms of complementary therapies to help pets and their carers.

The CIBDT also offers courses in cat and dog psychology and I will be looking to study these to further my own knowledge and experience and gain further qualifications."
