My beautiful boy Louis was a 6 year old yellow lab. He was the fittest dog you could imagine, he had a 6 pack! People thought he was a girl as he was so pretty, he never showed his teeth to man nor dog, never got into a fight with anyone. We called him our "little hippie", he just wanted peace and love everywhere. Within 4 weeks (Nov 14th 2011) we lost him to cancer. I have 2 other dogs, but still miss him terribly, he was too young and had too much to live for. Even now I put out 3 bowls, get out 3 leads. The pain is still raw and deep. God I miss you my handsome boy, obviously they needed another angel up in heaven. xx

That's no age at all is it, so sorry Fiona. Louis sounds like a wonderful boy. As you say another angel up in heaven. If you think it would be at all helpful please create a memorial to him on this site, would love to see a photo if you have one but only if you feel it would be helpful to you. RIP Louis x

Thank you so much for the really kind words. I will do a memorial soon, but at the moment I can't face it. It's been two months since saying goodbye to my little angel, but I seem to be struggling more each day, things aren't getting easier. The past couple of days especially, all I've done is cry. Can anyone else sympathise with how I am feeling? I am feeling so low and just keep going over and over in my head his last few hours? Any advice/ help would be really appreciated. X

I lost my boy on new years day and I am also on the emotional rollercoaster. One day happy and laughing the next a sobbing mess. I've learnt to cry when I need to and laugh when I can. We have started a memory book for kye. Whenever we have a memory we write it down and put it in the book. We've put our favourite photos in too. We've listed his favourite foods, places...even what words he knew. It really has helped because you can never be sad when remembering such wonderful memories. You are not alone and we're all here for you. X

Hi Fiona - labs are wonderful dogs, and you must feel so robbed, having lost Louis after only 6yrs....Cancer is such an awful disease, in both humans AND animals isn't it ?? I have lost several precious pets to cancer, and it is so hard and painful to watch them fade away.....Just thinking of you at this sad time....Your "angle boy" will always be watching over you...Good you can talk about it, and this site is great, because we've all lost, so we share the grief.....It really has helped me to be able to come here and talk to like-minded folks...
RIP lovely Louis.....

Thanks Natalie, I might try the memory book, it sounds a lovely idea. I am sorry to hear of your loss, your boy sounds wonderful and your memorial brought tears to my eyes. You were lucky to have him for 13 years, unfortunately my little boy was taken from me too early and that is hard to deal with. Thanks again xx
