Dearest Bella - our beautiful little Tortie girl. When you first came to us via Cats protection at the age of three or four, we never thought we'd hear you purr, but you became the most loving little friend ever. You were never far from my side. You followed me everywhere, you recognised my car going up the street, and by the time I turned round, you were at the door, waiting for me. We had such fun!
You grew with us - tiny, petite, but a lion's heart, and so, so loving. Despite your size, your fighting spirit saw you overcome a massive abscess, then the following year, you went so anaemic that it was touch and go - caused by a tiny puncture wound in your palate (we never did find out how).
We thought you were amazing when you were still charging around, chasing balls and running up and down the stairs at the age of 16, but it turned out you were hyperthyroid. It was a long two weeks when you were away from us having radio-iodine treatment - we'd never been apart for so long - and the day I brought you home was one of the happiest of my life.
Ah, but before our very eyes, you grew old. You became deaf; you couldn't hear us tell you how much we loved you, so we just cuddled you more. We didn't realise that your beautiful soft fur was slightly more unkempt. You still loved your treat ball, and how we loved to treat you: chicken twice a week, salmon twice a week, all the better from my fingers. You slept more. You'd become a grand old lady before our very eyes!
One day, I noticed you were breathing loudly. I feared for your heart, but the vets assured us that was strong. They kept you in, and you seem to rally. I came to bring you home, but you'd suddenly deteriorated, and they'd found a tumour in your throat. I did bring you home, so your last days would be with us in the home you loved and your favourite garden, before letting you fly to Rainbow Bridge from my lap at the age of 19. My darling little Smudgy-face; little Furry-bum. I love you now as I always did - and always will.

Bella was sweetness personified. She was beautiful, darling, loving and a once in a lifetime girl. She was dearly loved. We are so grateful we had her for 15 years.

Our sweet Bella,
We rescued you 12 years ago before you could be euthanized and since that day, you have brought nothing but joy to our lives. We want you to know how much we love you and since we have so much love left to give you, now that you are gone, our grief is unbearable. You had been sick for over two years and we felt that we should let you be at peace, since your medication was no longer working to stop the gagging and coughing from your collapsed trachea. Hearing you wheeze was heart breaking. Watching you no longer able to get comfortable on the bed or couch was gut wrenching. Hearing your little joints crack and the whimper you would sometimes give while I was removing your harness from you after a walk made me think you were in pain. I didn't want to let you go but I didn't want you to suffer. In a perfect world, you would have been able to tell me how you feel and what you wanted. But you couldn't, so the decision was made to have you peacefully put to sleep at home. Now here I am, regretting that decision. Feeling like I let you down. It will forever haunt me. But some days I am able to clear my head and make myself understand that we did it for you. We did it so that you could be free from all your pain and from the diseases that riddled your body. We did it because that is how much we loved you. I hope you know that. I hope that if you are able, you can come see me in my dreams and let me know you are happy, full of life and have a healthy body. The love that your dad and I have for you could feel the ocean a million times over. I hope you are alive, on the other side somewhere, running through a field of flowers, peeing all over the place, lol, because that is what you loved to do. Be free my sweet, sweet baby girl. ♥

If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever.
- The Crow
we miss the early morning cutches on the bed,
the cutches in the night,
and all the times we used to fight,
we miss you chattering your different tones,
each one meaning something to us,
demanding food and demanding to play,
your food we should have put on a tray,
we miss the way you stole your mothers seat,
on her way to bed you would attack her feet,
we miss the way you carried your sock,
this meant it was time for bed,
although this would happen early in the day,
you always did get your own way,
but most we will miss is being with you and having your constant love and companionship,
you made us complete a pyramid,
now our hearts are broken with your loss,
we will never forget you our little boss,
rest in peace our little Belle,
until we are our pyramid once again,
we love you mum and dad.
xxx

Unknown - Unknown
Belle came to us as a stray who needed a foster home. She was 13 years old, and desperately needed some love. She had been abandoned by her previous owners once they found out she had a tumour.
Belle was the most beautiful, loving girl. In the 3 months we had her, we saw her blossom and we saw her fall. All I wish was that we had her sooner, I hope the love we gave her made up for all the years she went without. I hope she knew how special she was. I miss you Belle, even though we didnt know you for long. Sleep well baby girl xx
